How to Gain More Instagram Followers

!Important! You want to engage only with accounts in your niche, so for better results don’t browse other accounts interesting to you, use your personal page for that.


Hosting a giveaway is probably the easiest method to draw a lot of attention to your company but it’s also the only one that requires an investment. What you have to do is pick a few prizes and tell people what they have to do to enter the contest. For example if you want to get leads, you will want people to go on your website and enter some information.

If you are growing a business page, you will want to give away some of your products to people, this way you will generate both awareness for your business and interest for your product. 

Alternatively, you can host a contest. For example you can get people to submit ideas about a new logo, or a slogan for your company and the best ones win vouchers for your product or services. The possibilities are endless, you just have to be creative.

3.  Utilize the “Story” and “Live” Features of Instagram

These two options are the best way to remind your followers about your page. Statistics show that 4 out of 5 daily users of Instagram open stories and most of them even prefer watching stories than their feed. If you are organizing an event, stream it live on Instagram to get your followers interested, get creative with your stories, show behind the scenes of what your company is doing or how your day goes if you are an influencer. 

Ask your followers which service they like best or what they would want from your company in the future. The connection between you and the customers you get with these types of activities will allow you to gather much better insight on what your customers want than anything else.


Shoutout for shoutout is a pretty basic way to grow your Instagram following. You contact another influencer or a company that has roughly as many followers as you do, and you both advertise each other. With this method you can easily reach new audiences and could be quite effective when you both have thousands of followers but you compromise your account’s quality a little. 

People don’t like looking at advertisements, so you have to make sure the shoutouts you do fit your account’s theme well. For example, doing a SFS with a make-up page when you post mainly cars and your audience is mostly men, might not be a good idea.


If you are struggling with getting enough photos or videos to post, a great way to fill the gap is by reposting a great post someone else used. When doing that you need to make sure that you tag the owner of the photo in the post and mention him in the caption. 

Reposting can bring a lot of attention to your page because the Algorithm seems to favor some photos over others. To utilize that you will have to choose posts that have an extraordinary number of likes, given the average number an account gets. For example, if an account gets 1k likes on average, you will repost only posts that have 2-3k+ likes.

The bonus one would be a tip not how to grow, but instead how not to grow your page. Gaining followers with paid advertisements is a bad idea, unless that’s the only way you are planning to gain followers. What happens when you start paying for followers is that instagram’s algorithm will lower your organic reach and after the ad campaign is finished your posts will be getting a lot less visibility than they used to before. The reason for that is that Instagram wants you to keep spending money on ads.
